The anthor had survey 85 persons of 12 year-old children about diet habit, caries prevalence and cries activity. We chose 24 persons who had frequently caries-inducing snack more than 6 times for 3 days. Diet control education was performed them.
For
the detection of effect in diet control by short term after 2 weeks, selective inoculation of oral flora in saliva was done. mutans streptococci and lactobacilli was cultured by Dip-slide method, before and after diet education.
Dentocult SM(r) and Dentocult LB(r) was used for seletive media.
@ES The results obtained as follows.
@EN 1. The average intake frequency of cariogenic snack food per 3 days were 7.79 times before diet control education, which was reduced 4.58 times after education.
2. CFU/ml saliva of mutans streptococci reduced about 20.3%, prospectively (P<0.05).
3. CFU/ml saliva of lactobacilli was reduced about 22.4%, prospectively(P<0.01).
